Lexington Golf & Country Club, the second oldest club in the Commonwealth of Virginia, was chartered on March 31, 1902 and that same year the original golf course was constructed by the club’s charter members. The original 9-hole course was sold in 1935 and is now the Fairwinds subdivision. The club had previously purchased Tri-Brook Farm, containing 96 acres, in 1930. A 9 green, 18 tee golf course was constructed and used until 1969. In 1966, sixty more acres were acquired. The old course was plowed in order to construct the 18-hole course known as the Jewel of the Valley.

The concept of golf architects Ellis Maples and Ed Seay realized the vision of the membership. The clubhouse was then built in 1954. Between then and now, the club has continued to expand and improve the facilities and grounds for the enjoyment of our members and guests. Today, Lexington features an 18-hole golf course known as the Jewel of the Valley, four tennis courts, a shortgame facility, a junior Olympic swimming pool, and a restaurant. An elegant event venue dominates the upper floor of the club house and is often host to weddings and large gatherings.

Golf Course
Designed by world-renowned golf course architects Ed Seay and Ellis Maples, this classically-designed golf curse is a Virginia golf tradition as it meanders through a series of streams, elevation changes, and stunning panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain views. Known for its fast undulating greens, the golf course is a challenge for veteran golfers as well as novice golfers.

Practice Facilities
Our practice space is the ideal setting to learn to play golf or warm up for a day on the course. Our 35-station practice facility always has space available and the Wes and June Brown Short Game Complex offers everything you need to sharpen your skills around the green.
